Q: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
I was 12 years old, writing my first book, and have loved it ever since. I expanded into a poet and screenwriter because I like to be as creative as I can possibly be.
Q: How long does it take you to write a book?
Depends on the amount of pages I am aiming for. Regardless, I attempt to write at least 1,000 words a day once I’m started on a project.
Q: What was the primary reason you wrote this book?
I wanted to influence future generations to speak up on matters they feel important right away versus waiting years down the line because tomorrow isn’t promised and young voices are just as significant as older ones.
Q: How has the experience of publishing your first book been for you?
It really inspired me to continue working hard on this craft and really see how many doors I can open through my dedication with hard work.
Q: What are your plans for the book?
I want it to be the project that makes me a best-selling author.
Q: What are some goals you have in life?
I want to give back to the community as much as I can. I want wealth that reaches the future generations of my family. I want to have the opportunity to fully live before I die because you only get one life.
Q: Are you going to write more projects soon?
Most definitely. I am already contemplating new ideas and how I should approach them as well.
Last year introduced the world to a level of panic and trauma that most of us had never experienced. Not only did we witness the horrific death of George Floyd, but we got to know this worldwide phenomenon known as the coronavirus or COVID-19. At this point what we all knew as “normal” had become a thing of the past. Fast forward a year and some time later and we are still experiencing the eeriness of death and sickness all around us. It’s at times like these that we have to find ways to cope and still grow as individuals.
This was also around the time the inspirational novel “Rebel Rules” was introduced to the world. The author Troy Oglesby Jr., at just 19 years old, published a book that is bound to ignite a revolutionary flame in all who read it.
