WRITERS GROUPS
Black Writers Collective offers programs geared specifically toward supporting our members in the ways they seek, such as monthly writer support group meetings and critique groups. We also have groups for beta readers and those who need support with accountability and focusing on the writing.
We’re here for you.
BWC exists to offer members the support they need and the camaraderie and community they crave.
Momentum In Action
Stay on Track with the M.I.A. Tribe
Our M.I.A. (Momentum In Action) Tribe is a small-group accountability system designed to help writers stay committed to their goals. In these intimate writing pods, members will:
✅ Set weekly or monthly writing goals and track progress.
✅ Check in with their group for motivation and encouragement.
✅ Share updates, challenges, and wins to stay inspired.
✅ Get gentle nudges when they “go missing” from their writing.
The M.I.A. Tribe ensures that you don’t lose momentum—whether you’re drafting, revising, or preparing for publication.
The Novelists’ Spot

Inside The Novelists’ Spot, you’ll find:
✅ A community of fellow novelists – Exchange ideas, seek advice, and share your progress.
✅ Dedicated writing discussions – Talk structure, pacing, plot development, and character arcs.
✅ Progress check-ins – Stay accountable with goal-setting and milestone tracking.
✅ Feedback & support – Share your challenges and victories with writers who understand the journey.
No matter where you are in your novel-writing process, The Novelists’ Spot ensures you have the encouragement and guidance you need to finish strong.
Quarterly Critique Swap
Get In-Depth Feedback Without the Pressure of Weekly Meetings
For writers who need structured feedback but can’t commit to monthly critique sessions, our Quarterly Critique Swap offers a powerful alternative. Every three months, Quill Society members can submit an excerpt of their work-in-progress for peer feedback in an organized, structured exchange.
Guidelines for Participation:
✅ Submissions must be fiction or nonfiction, up to 5,000 words per quarter.
✅ Members will be matched in small critique groups based on genre and writing level.
✅ Participants must commit to reviewing and providing constructive feedback on 2-3 other submissions.
✅ Feedback should focus on clarity, pacing, structure, and engagement, rather than line edits.
✅ A critique guide will be provided to help members offer insightful, actionable feedback.
✅ All critiques must be respectful, professional, and solution-oriented—we uplift, not tear down.
The Quarterly Critique Swap is designed to be flexible yet valuable, ensuring that members receive fresh perspectives on their work while strengthening their ability to analyze and critique writing.
Beta Readers
Get Honest Reader Feedback Before You Publish
Your story deserves thoughtful, constructive feedback before it reaches the world. The Beta Readers Group connects writers with readers who provide insightful reactions and suggestions to help improve your manuscript.
How it Works:
✅ Submit your manuscript (or an excerpt) when seeking feedback.
✅ Get matched with beta readers who align with your genre and audience.
✅ Receive honest, detailed responses on what’s working and what needs improvement.
✅ Return the favor – Offer feedback to fellow members when you can.
This group is ideal for writers who want to fine-tune their story, strengthen engagement, and ensure their book resonates with readers before publication.
