Q: What is Black Writers Reunion & Conference?
A: Black Writers Reunion & Conference is a national touring conference founded in 2000. A detailed history of the conference is available here.

Q: Can I get a registration discount if I register early?
A: Early registration ended January 15, 2008. Regular registration fees are in effect until June 10, 2008. For more information, please see Registration.

Q: Can I register at the door?
A: Limited walk-up registration may be available on-site at the conference provided space is available. Pre-registration will end on June 10.

Q: Will I receive confirmation of my paid registration?
A: A confirmation e-mail with complete details will be sent to you upon processing of your registration. The only registrants who will receive registration confirmations in the mail will be those who do not supply e-mail addresses.

Q: I faxed/mailed my registration. When will I receive confirmation?
A: Registrations are typically processed and confirmed via e-mail within seven days of receipt. If over ten days have passed since you faxed your registration, or if it has been more than fourteen business days since you mailed it, we ask that you please contact us as soon as possible. If you paid your registration online and have not faxed or mailed your registration form, please do so immediately.

Q: I will be unavailable during part of the conference. Am I required to attend the whole event?
A: You aren't required to attend any specific portion of the conference; however, no refunds or adjustments can be offered for partial attendance. You should also be aware that the hotel will assess charges if you check out before your scheduled departure date.

Q: What if I need to cancel?
A: Cancellations must be submitted in writing via U.S. mail or fax. Cancellation fees will apply as outlined on the registration forms.

Q: What is the dress code for the conference?
A: Business or summer casual.

Q: I am interested in participating in the 50-Author Expo. How can I reserve a space?
A: Applications are being accepted for the author expo as well as exhibitor booths during the conference. See Exhibit Information for details.

Q: Is there a conference travel agent through whom I can make travel arrangements?
A: We have negotiated discounted group rates for conference attendees directly with American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Avis Rent-a-Car, and Budget Rent-a-Car. Airline tickets purchased more than 60 days in advance will offer the lowest discounts. For deepest airfare discounts available at any given time, reserve online for an additional 3% discount and to avoid a $10 ticketing service fee.

Q: I've been selected for the 50-Author Expo. Do I need to bring books or anything else relating to the Author Expo?
A: If you have been confirmed for the 50-Author Expo, you should plan and pack appropriate display materials. Your table should be attention-getting and relevant to the title(s) you are displaying. The official BWRC bookseller is listed below. You should contact her as soon as possible if you would like for her to sell your books at the conference.

If your books are not readily available from major distributors or you are not able to make arrangements with the bookseller, you will need to bring your own titles and sell them directly from your table.

Q: Do I have to sign up in advance for the specific workshops I wish to attend?
A: Yes. To ensure we have ample seating and handouts, attendees will be required to preregister for workshops. Preregistration information will be supplied with your registration confirmation.
