Interview with Barbara Joe Williams
When did you attend your first BWRC?
I attended my first BWRC in July 2006.
What is your most memorable BWRC moment?
I was just happy to be there and see so many authors in one place that I’ve admired over the years.
Have you networked with anyone at the conference and has that contact continued?
Yes, I’ve networked with several people from the conference and have met with them since for other programs in other cities.
Did you do any writing while attending the conference?
No, I didn’t. I used that time to absorb useful information.
Has the BWRC helped you to accomplish any writing goals?
Yes, I’ve done a lot of writing since attending the BWRC. In fact, I’ve published several books since then including Falling for Lies (November 2006); How I Met My Sweetheart Anthology (February 2007); A Writer’s Guide to Writing, Self-Publishing & Marketing (March 2007) and I have an upcoming release for October titled Courtney’s Collage with co-author Sherille Fisher.
If you plan to attend the 2008 BWRC, what brings you back?
Last year I attended as a participant. Next year, I’m coming back as a presenter. Editor’s note: Barbara will be presenting a workshop entitled “Mistakes First-Time Authors Make (And How To Avoid Them).“
What would you like to see at the next BWRC?
I’d like to see more authors and attendees as the conference continues to grow.
What would you say about BWRC to influence someone who’s thinking about attending?
I would tell them that it’s a wonderful way to network with published and aspiring authors. And it’s also a way to learn more about the writing craft as well as the publishing business.
Anything else you’d like to add?
Thank you for inviting me to come back to BWRC 2008 as a presenter. I’m looking forward to sharing my self-publishing experience with everyone planning to attend my workshop.

Don’t miss Barbara’s workshop on Friday, June 20, at the 2008 BWRC. She’ll cover twenty-five very costly mistakes commonly made by first time self-published authors and tell you how to avoid making them.
